Scott Blair, DO

Assistant Professor of Surgery


Scott Blair, DO, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Blair enlisted in the United States Air Force straight out of high school, serving on active duty from 1998-2002 in Spokane, W​ash., at Fairchild AFB. He was deployed to Kuwait, stationed at Ali Al Salem Air Base, for Operation Southern Watch and to Saudi Arabia, stationed at Prince Sultan Air Base, for Operation Enduring Freedom.

While in the military he worked as an electrical power production engineer, operating and maintaining emergency power generators for military bases to continue to maintain support for American interests throughout the Middle East. While serving on active duty he received numerous awards and medals, in particular the USAF 363rd Expeditionary Support Group Superior Performer, which is awarded to only 5 percent of the men and women serving in the Air Expeditionary Force.

After receiving an honorable discharge after completing his enlistment in the United States Air Force, Dr. Blair graduated with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Washington in Seattle in 2007. Dr. Blair completed medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience in Kansas City, Mo., graduating in 2011. He was then accepted to the University of South Alabama in the general surgery residency program. He completed his general surgical residency in 2016, continued on at the University of South Alabama as the fellow in Surgical Critical Care from 2016-17. Dr. Blair has interests in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for patients with adult respiratory distress syndrome and the care of critically injured and critically ill surgical patients and emergent general surgical conditions.
