Fellows rotate through two training site hospitals - OU Medical Center and the Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
Fellows spend 50% of their time rotating through each site by alternating back and forth every other month.
Both OU Medical Center and the Oklahoma Heart Hospital offer a comprehensive spectrum of cardiovascular services including:
- Acute coronary care
- In-house primary PCI for ST Elevation MI
- Cardiac catheterization laboratories
- Echocardiography laboratories (including TEE and stress echocardiography)
- Nuclear cardiology services
- Cardiothoracic surgery
- Device implantation (Pacemaker, ICD and CRT)
- Cardiac rehabilitation
Additionally, OU Medical Center has EP & Ablation laboratories.
Four new state-of-the-art cath lab and two EP labs are now open at OUMC. The cath labs include a hybrid biplane room for structural/adult congenital and hybrid procedures with vascular surgery and CTS surgery.
We have a very active clinical research group with clinical research coordinators that actively recruit patients from the units, floors and cath lab to our research protocols. In addition there is a half a day post PCI clinic at OU Medical Center and VA Medical Center for fellows to gain outpatient experience.
