Fellowship

Infectious diseases is one of the most exciting and challenging disciplines of medicine. The OUHSC Infectious Diseases Training Program is dedicated to providing all fellows with an exceptional fellowship experience to serve as a foundation for a successful clinical, public health, or research career. Clinical training is provided through an ACGME accredited training program for ABIM subspecialty training in Infectious Diseases. Trainees in the fellowship program will complete at least two-years of training with additional training years requiring extramural support and approval by the Residency Review Committee. Three fellows are graduated every 2 years.

Program Objectives

  • To provide every fellow with an in-depth experience in pathophysiology, diagnosis, and therapy of infectious diseases.
  • To develop sound knowledge of the epidemiology and prevention of such diseases.
  • To provide every fellow with the essential laboratory skills and knowledge required for the diagnosis and care of patients with infectious diseases.
  • To introduce to principles of critical investigation.
  • To train fellows that will be well-prepared, on completion of the program, to pursue productive careers in infectious diseases in academic or nonacademic settings.
