Shade of Great Oaks
Each year, first-year medical students meet with the families of the donor bodies they will work with during their anatomy lab course. In this moving essay, medical student Jake Morgan reflects on the experience and how one person's selfless act furthered his education. Jake's essay also was published in the Blood and Thunder humanities journal, which is organized by medical students.

Hope In Desperate Places
Darius Maggi, M.D., a member of the OU College of Medicine Class of 1974, is an OB-Gyn who makes several trips a year to Sierra Leone, the eighth poorest country in Africa. Through his West Africa Fistula Foundation, Dr. Maggi performs lifesaving operations for women with obstetric fistulas.
