Application Information

The Clinical Medical Physics Residency Program is a two-year program. All applicants must meet the admission standards established by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Educational Programs (CAMPEP). Applicants are required to demonstrate a strong foundation in basic physics through completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree in physics, or a degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related scientific discipline that includes the equivalent of a minor in physics, defined as at least three upper-level undergraduate physics courses.

In addition, applicants must have completed either 1) a Master’s or Doctoral degree from a CAMPEP-accredited medical physics graduate program, or 2) a Doctoral degree in physics or a related discipline along with successful completion of a CAMPEP-accredited medical physics certificate program. Preference will be given to applicants who have passed the American Board of Radiology (ABR) Part 1 examination or who are registered to sit for the examination at the time of application.

Eligibility to continue into the second year of the program is contingent upon satisfactory performance and successful completion of the first-year curriculum.

Positions

The Clinical Medical Physics Residency Program is approved for four residency positions and offers a competitive training environment for highly qualified applicants. Residency appointments are made on a rolling basis, with positions typically available every six months (January and July), allowing flexibility to recruit strong candidates throughout the year.

How to Apply

The Clinical Medical Physics Residency Program offers two application cycles each year. The July intake participates in the National Matching Service (NMS) application system and the NMS Match. Applicants for the July cycle must submit all required materials through MedPhys Match Application Service and follow the standard NMS Match timeline and procedures.

The January intake follows a separate, non‑match application process. Applicants for the January cycle are required to upload all application materials by clicking the designated application link on this page. Applications for the January cycle will be accepted from May 25, 2026 through August 28, 2026 and only complete applications submitted within this timeframe will be reviewed.
