Message from the Program Director

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. The primary mission of the training program in Diagnostic Radiology is to provide high-level clinical training in each area of diagnostic imaging. This mission is achieved with highly skilled full-time faculty and cutting-edge technology. Teaching is a top priority for our faculty, and residents are exposed to a wide variety of common and uncommon case material in a friendly, nurturing, hard-working but low-pressure environment. Our graduates will be prepared to practice radiology competently, participate in professional organizations, support their communities and effectively utilize health care resources. Our mission is development of the radiology professionals of the future through providing service to a diverse patient population. Our strength is in our residents and faculty. Honesty, integrity, professionalism and hard work are keys to success here at OU.

In addition to our goal of training leaders in academic radiology, OU aims to foster leadership skills in all potential areas of radiology practice. Faculty are committed to mentoring residents in research and professional development; residents may arrange research time in a number of flexible ways. The program consists of four years of residency training through which residents evolve and thrive in every radiological field. We also have a high-load Interventional Radiology service that provides our residents with training across a broad domain of vascular and non-vascular procedures.

Our Program seeks residents who have strong academic histories, a passion for the visual and technical aspects of radiology, interests in research or other scholarly activity and curiosity about the business of radiology. Our bottom line is a focus on quality, cost effective patient care with added interests in pursuing improvement in care delivery and diagnostic options through scholarly activity and research. Enthusiasm and energy for the multiple facets of the practice of radiology are needed to be successful in our residency program; in return we will provide an environment with the tools and resources you need to achieve competency in the practice of radiology.

We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Residency Match Program. We will offer 6 PGY-2 positions in the forthcoming interview season. Successful applicants will begin residency on July 1, 2023.

Thank you again for your interest in our program.

Sincerely,
