Kelsey Tenpenny, MD

Kelsey was born in Mobile, Alabama, and now calls Wichita, Kansas home.  She graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Biochemistry before attending medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.  While there, Kelsey exercised her passion for equity and equality, volunteering with Lansing Correctional Facility, a local prison, with Running Free.  Running Free is a non-profit organization which provides running shoes and additional exercise time to inmates for stress management.  She also served as a member of the Kansas Birth Equity Network, an initiative to educate, advocate, and be a community resource for birth equity and is highly invested in reducing Black infant and maternal mortality rates.  During her downtime, Kelsey enjoys reading and audiobooks (her favorite authors are Stephen King and Colleen Hoover), and spending time with her dog, Lucy.  Of course, it’s not all business for Kelsey; she also enjoys outdoor adventures, road-trips, thrift store shopping, and reality television.
