New Departmental File Shares:
Important how-to guides have been posted in the protected resources section of our web site about VPN connection VPN Instructions and Shared folders \\BS\BchPsl.
The “Shared Folders” how-to describes current folder structure and their purposes. It also describes important information about access permissions, as well as how to request changes to such access. If you have questions, please review the how-to first as it may contains answers already.
Please note that, unfortunately, it is not possible to verify that file and folder permissions have been set up correctly until we start using them. If you do not see or cannot access a folder that you believe you should have access to, please speak up!
As the first benefit, you can find full resolution pictures from two past photo sessions at \\bs.hsc.net.ou.edu\BchPsl\marcom\Photosessions
Lab folders in legacy departments’ shares
Shares have provisional space for the future location of research labs folders. All new labs will be located here. However, currently all legacy departments files and labs shares are still located in either \\bs.hsc.net.ou.edu\PY\LABS or \\isi-okc-general.net.ou.edu\BIOCHEM\section (see the how-to for corresponding addresses on Mac). It is our intent to keep these legacy shares as read-only archives to maintain links that may be present in your past records. Folders of currently active labs will be cloned or linked into the new department share at BchPsl\Labs. There will be a separate announcement when this is about to take place.
Other folders in legacy shares:
There are additional folders within legacy shares that will be handled on a one-by-one basis. For example, general administration or web sites information will not be migrated. Graduate programs, on the other hand, may choose to move all or some files and merge them in the new share.
Individual users’ folders will not be migrated in bulk to the new share. It will be up to PIs to structure their lab folders, allocate space for individual users, if desired, and request Mission Support to set up access. Overall plans for handling individual folders will be discussed at future committee and faculty meetings.
