New Department Website is Now Open for Internal Review

Published: Thursday, May 30, 2024

We are delighted to invite all faculty to preview the new departmental website prior to it going live!  During a brief review period we will collect feedback and try to incorporate as many requests as possible. Please note that the current priority is to publish the website as soon as possible, preferably in one-two weeks from the preview date. This means that some requests and improvements may be implemented during the second stage after the launch.

Please note that we plan to use this Internal Announcements page as the primary portal for department-wide updates about major issues. Updates will be accompanied by a brief notification email with a link taking you to the web page with more details. This page will remain login protected for internal use only.

There are several known issues that will require future updates, including:

  • The current list of events is primarily for illustration. It will require updates and, possibly, reorganization. This includes refinement of primary and affiliate calendars.
  • Departmental announcements are mostly populated with mock pages, to be replaced with real content as it becomes available.
  • Newsletters section is a placeholder for PDF pages intended for public access.
  • All faculty portraits should be updated with recent photos.
  • A “Good news” section will be added to the front page .
  • Full departmental directory, including staff and students, still needs to be created.
  • Social media links on the front page are placeholders, pending setup of the accounts.
  • Various how-to pages, internal documents are currently empty.

If you have any feedback on these or other issues that we may have missed, please use the following survey link to send us feedback https://ousurvey.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9KBp6PRwMoBoeDI This survey can also be used to upload files and pictures until departmental shared folders are setup (coming soon!).

If you have programmatic updates (such as graduate programs pages, for example) please draft new content in a word document, clearly indicating which section corresponds to which page, and upload it to the survey, accompanied by a brief description note.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding that this is work in progress. We also ask that you kindly limit direct emails about the website to only the most urgent corrections and/or issues that you think can adversely affect us all.
