The Director’s award will be presented to the first individual in each graduating class of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center’s Masters of Science in Genetic Counseling Program who has published a first-author article in a national or international level peer reviewed journal of sufficient quality as decided by the Academic Progress Committee (APC). The article does NOT have to be related to the thesis work, but it can be. The work must have been completed after matriculating to the MSGC Program.
Graduates must apply for the award in order to be recognized, and the claim will be reviewed by the APC. An application form is available on the MSGC website. The APC will review applications and determine winners each year in January to allow for notification and travel arrangements for the GREAT Symposium in the spring. The committee is not responsible for determining if other members of a graduating class have published, as they will only determine the awardee from applications received prior to December 31st each year. The award opportunity will be retroactive to the beginning of the program starting in 2003, so early program graduates… get your applications in today! Those who qualify will be notified of their award, and the dates for travel to receive the award will be communicated.
Each award recipient will receive the following:
• Cash prize of $250
• Commemorative plaque
• Travel expenses paid to attend the OUHSC GREAT Symposium during the spring semester (not to exceed $750)
