OUHSC MSGC graduates are employed both locally in Oklahoma and in a variety of states around the US, including Texas, Colorado, California, Arkansas, Michigan, Washington, Utah, Arizona, Missouri, North Carolina, New York, South Carolina, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska and Tennessee. They are working in a variety of settings and specialties, including general genetics clinics, cancer genetics centers, prenatal clinics, assisted reproductive technology centers, and laboratory, both clinical and research. They are working both in academic centers and private practices around the US. We consistently receive positive feedback from employers about the success of our graduates in the genetic counseling profession and from graduates about the professional preparation they received here at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Graduates of the OUHSC MSGC Program have had great success in passing the board exam and finding genetic counseling positions at time of graduation. The information below refers to the last three years (2020-2022)
- First attempt pass rate of the board exam is 86%, where the overall passage rate is 95%
- The attrition rate for our students is 0%
- All graduates have found jobs as genetic counselors within six months after graduation
