Resident and Fellow Research Support

Our Office of Medical Education fully supports our trainees in the development of both their research skills and individual projects. Fellows and residents have separate longitudinal curricula covering topics such as Literature Review, The Research Question, Protection of Human Subjects / IRB, Project Management, Mentor Communication, Abstract Submission, Poster Creation, Grant Application, and Manuscript Preparation. Each resident has their own dedicated Scholarly Oversight Committee including a dedicated research mentor, the Vice-Chair of Education, the Associate Program Director for Scholarly Activity, the Associate Vice-Chair of Education for Scholarship, and a biostatistician. A Certificate Course in Mentoring Trainee Scholarly Activity is offered annually in the Fall for all faculty.

The Department of Pediatrics sponsors multiple programs to facilitate intra- and inter-departmental research.  The Office of Research Programs specializes in comprehensive support of regulatory compliance and study coordination for clinical trials research.  The Biomedical and Behavioral Methodology Core (BBMC) houses faculty and staff who specialize in biostatistics, measurement, computational programming, database management, and general research methods.
