The Orthotics and Prosthetics Clinic is located in the OU Children’s Physicians building, which is centrally positioned on the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Campus. This established O&P program will provide a wide variety of experiences for the resident to engage and participate in during their one year residency. The program’s objective is to graduate aspiring orthtoists and prosthetists with a well-rounded background in the medical field as related to their specialty. The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine along with the University of Oklahoma Orthotics and Prosthetics Section allow our residents with a once in a lifetime opportunity of experience and education. Our staff is highly professional and is regarded as an integral part of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation.
Accreditations and Memberships Include
The American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC)
The National Commission on Orthotics and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE)
The American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA)
Prospective residents may submit a letter of intent and a copy of their CV during their final year/term of CAAHEP accredited education or during the second half of their current residency program. All letters/emails of intent should specify orthotics or prosthetics. Prospective residents will be required to complete an application, send their official O&P school transcript, and provide 3 letters of recommendation to complete the application process. The residency starts the summer after completion of the prospective residents CAAHEP education or after their first residency program.
A resident quarterly schedule will be mapped out during the first week in clinic. All residents will be required to take hospital call rotations as the OU Orthotic and Prosthetic Clinic meets the needs of our Level 1 Trauma Center, OU Medical Inc. and the esteemed Children’s Hospital.
We encourage you to read through the program course outline and residents guide which includes clinical obligations, candidate requirements, and general information. Please complete an application. Once the application has been received, further instructions will be given.
