Academy of Teaching Scholars

Do you dream of having students rotate through your pediatric office one day? What about becoming a clerkship, residency, or fellowship director? The Academy of Teaching Scholars through the OU College of Medicine is a collaborative organization dedicated to developing and supporting teaching and education. The ATS offers memberships, mentorship, research scholarships and travel grants for residents interested in medical education. Residents may also attend noon events of the ATS in lieu of of scheduled pediatric conference with prior approval.

The didactic curriculum is
designed to cover the breadth of pediatrics and fully prepare residents for board certification. Lectures are provided by pediatric faculty, specialty faculty, and allied health professionals for an interdisciplinary approach. Emphasis is placed on an active learning, team based philosophy. In addition to covering the ACGME requirements, the curriculum also provides interactive sessions regarding patient safety, communication, dealing with conflict, ethics, diversity / inclusion, and  value based care.

Rotations are carefully researched and developed based on ACGME and ABP priorities and requirements, trends in healthcare, local resources, and dedicated expert faculty. We pride ourselves on hosting a variety of innovative electives based on unique career paths and the ever-changing needs of our learners.         

Coaching Program


The coaching program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center was established in 2018. This innovative program is designed to promote individual resident observation, reflection, and feedback throughout training in order to develop the habits of life-long learning and effective self-reflection.



We continually evaluate and adjust our curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our residents and patients. Our world-class faculty are dedicated to teaching the next generation of physicians, educators, advocates, and researchers.

Clinical Skills Education & Testing Center


The Clinical Skills Education and Testing Center (CSETC) is a 22,000-square-foot facility at the OU Health Sciences Center where students and practicing clinicians engage in simulation to enhance their skills in patient care.

Simulation has become a standard in medical education. In simulated environments, students can practice complex skills in a safe and realistic setting.
