Maria Alkozah, MD, MPH, is an Infectious Diseases physician at OU Health, Oklahoma City, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center based in Oklahoma City.
Dr. Alkozah obtained her medical degree from the Lebanese University, Faculty of Medical Sciences. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Infectious Disease with a focus on the immunocompromised at the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Lebanon. After moving to the United States, she completed a second Infectious Diseases fellowship and a residency in Leadership and Preventive Medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. Dr. Alkozah also received her MPH degree from The Dartmouth Institute.
Dr. Alkozah is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the American College of Preventive Medicine, and the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Alkozah is particularly interested in diagnosing and treating infections with mycobacteria, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and hepatitis C virus. She is strongly interested in quality improvement, antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship. Her research focuses on improving interprofessional communication and infections with non-tuberculous mycobacteria and Candida species. She enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows and creating research opportunities to help them advance their careers in clinical, academic, and research settings.
